Las Vegas – Part 2

Day two saw us up early and ready to explore the part of the Las Vegas Strip that we hadn’t covered the previous day. We had breakfast in one of the French bakeries in the lobby of our hotel. The lobby is designed to look like the cobbled streets of Paris and has a real indoor/outdoor feel. Even the painted ceiling looks like the sky.

Our first stop and probably one of the most famous locations on the strip was Caesar’s Palace. Iconic and well known for being the scene of The Hangover movie among many other things it is a huge and imposing building.

The inside is just as impressive with a huge fountain and grand columns. It is also home to The Forum shops which is a huge high end shopping mall.

We then walked over towards The Venetian hotel spotting other iconic resorts such as The Mirage and Treasure Island on the way.

Next we walked into The Venetian and it was like being in St Mark’s Square with the gondolas and bridges. It was beautiful.

I loved this huge Love sign in the lobby.

On the way out of The Venetian we spotted The Wynn – one of the super luxury resorts in Las Vegas.

Our next destination was The Bellagio as we had heard amazing things about their flower filled conservatory and botanic gardens. They did not disappoint – I don’t think I’ve ever seen such stunning flower creations.

Around every corner there were more and more stunning flower creations.

This was probably one of the nicest areas inside one of the resorts that we found in Las Vegas and it was a real highlight.

All of that exploring had ensured that we had worked up an appetite so we headed to somewhere that we were particularly keen to try – Gordon Ramsay’s Burgers. Situated at Planet Hollywood we couldn’t wait to sample the menu.

Along the way we spotted our hotel with the Eiffel Tower soaring towards the sky as well as Caesar’s Palace in the distance.

Gordon Ramsay Burger had a bit of a queue but nothing too bad and we were seated relatively quickly.

Knowing how big the portions are in the states we decided to share two burgers and one portion of fries between the three of us. We went for the Blue Cheeseburger which came with blue cheese, manchego cheese, figgy jam, arugula, cider vinegar reduction and spicy mayo and the Backyard Burger which came with american cheese, butter lettuce, tomato, pickle and onion.

The burgers were really good and cooked a perfect pink in the middle. We spent the rest of the day by the pool swimming and soaking up the sun.

For our last evening we had dinner at Mon Ami Gabi, the French steakhouse at our hotel and all enjoyed the steak frites with peppercorn sauce. After dinner we went to see Vegas! The Show at the Planet Hollywood Theatre.

We had a wonderful two nights in Las Vegas and the next morning I flew back to the UK with my parents to spend four weeks back in Wales before returning to New Zealand. I have lots of UK adventures to write about coming soon.
